GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Guilford County DSS has named its interim director, a day after the director resigned.
On Tuesday, the board appointed Myra Thompson as Interim DSS Director effective April 1. Thompson is not new to county work or Guilford County. According to a news release, she has served Guilford County for 20 years. Most recently, she has spent the past 7 years as the DSS Administrative Services Division Director.
Prior to joining DSS, Thompson worked in the Guilford County Budget Office. She has also served the County as Interim Director of Transportation.
Myra Thompson has a degree in Business Management from Columbia College in Columbia, S.C.
Dr. Jeffrey Williams has accepted an appointment as the department's interim assistant director. He currently serves as the division director for Child and Family Services.
