GREENSBORO, N.C. -- — One tweet sparked a lot of conversation in our newsroom this morning.
Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan tweeted "If you are on city water there is no reason to buy bottled water. Our system is reliable and well prepared. It is designed to operate during and after the storm."
Greensboro water leaders tell me as long as they have generators ready to go, and back-up pumps placed they feel good about the system moving forward.
"You would never say confident in the face of a storm like this, I would say prepared. We are prepared, and we are flexible enough that we can handle the changes as they come along," said Dell Harney, the water supply manager for Greensboro.
Preparations are already being made to make sure you get water, and that the water is safe.
The city already lowered Lake Brandt more than 2 feet.
Leaders are strategically placing backup pumps across the area, and making sure all generators are in tip-top shape. It's all for one goal.
"Absolutely no fear of it, although you don't take it lightly. We're planning for it to be a 500 year flood, that's our preparation level. The water will be there when you need it," said Harney.
