Firefighters arrive on scene of a housefire in Winston-Salem on Thursday.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two people have been hospitalized after a housefire on Stockton Street in Winston-Salem, according to the city's fire department.

Multiple units responded to the blaze Thursday, which officials say displaced four people, two of which were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The Winston-Salem Fire Department said the cause of the fire is unknown, but it is actively being investigated.

This was one of several housefires around the Triad on Thursday. A blaze in Kernersville early Thursday morning displaced an adult woman and her three sons, while a vacant house on Cedar Fork Drive in Greensboro also caught fire the same day.
