GREENSBORO, N.C. — The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a preliminary investigation involving the Greensboro-built HondaJet that crashed in Arizona and killed five people on Nov. 5.
The Honda HA-420 jet crashed shortly after trying to take off. It never made it into the air. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the jet crashed into a car outside of airport property.
Five Arizona residents, including a 12-year-old boy, died in the collision.
The HA-420 HondaJet is an advanced light jet, built at headquarters in Greensboro.
The NTSB couldn't find any obvious mechanical issues with the aircraft, according to the report.
The report found the plane quickly slowed down before takeoff on the runway.
It then crashed through a fence and went across a road, before crashing into a car.
The report found that all major parts of the plane were intact before the plane hit the fence, and there were no issues with the brake.
There also weren't any engine issues, the report said.
At this point, it's not clear what went wrong.
The NTSB will work on a final report, which could take over a year.
