NORTH CAROLINA, USA — At around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, deputies said they responded to a call about a loud house party and noise disturbance on Spring Mill Rd.
The homeowner said he was the one who made that phone call.
He explained that the home is a short-term rental. He had rented it out that weekend to a group of women who said they were having a 'girls' weekend.
The homeowner said the group contacted him about having some friends over to hang out in a small gathering.
He said he shared his concerns with them that he didn't feel comfortable with that.
It was shortly after that conversation that the homeowner said he went to check his outside cameras around the home, and noticed the WIFI had been cut off, preventing him from checking in.
After many attempts to contact the group, the homeowner said he heard from a neighbor that there seemed to be a large house party taking place.
That's when he called law enforcement to drive by and check it out.
The Guilford County Sheriff's office said on their way to respond to the noise complaint, they were informed that a shooting happened at that location.
Former Page High School, and Clemson University football star, Diondre Overton was found shot on scene and pronounced dead.

Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers announced Saturday it's offering a cash reward to anyone with information on the shooting of Diondre Overton.
Overton, who played football at Page High School and Clemson University, was shot to death at a house party on Sept. 7 in what police believe was an isolated incident.
Greensboro/Guilford Crime Stoppers said whoever provides the identity of the individuals involved will be given up to $5,000 in cash as a reward.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 336-373-1000.

Page High School and Clemson University alumnus Diondre Overton died in an overnight shooting in Greensboro on Saturday, according to the Guilford County Sheriff's Office.
At around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, deputies said they responded to a call about a loud house party and noise disturbance at 3205 Spring Mill Rd.
As they got closer to the scene, deputies said they were informed that a shooting happened at that location.
Diondre Overton, 26, was found shot on the scene. Despite medical aid, Overton was pronounced dead, according to deputies.
Deputies said the incident was isolated.
The Greensboro native played as a wide receiver for both schools. He joined Page High's football team in his junior year in 2014 and was recruited by Clemson in 2016.
Overton was a two-time national champion and four-time ACC champion.
He wrapped up his tenure at Clemson with 52 career receptions for 777 yards and seven touchdowns in 1,021 snaps over 51 games, according to Clemson Football.
"A beautiful young life cut short at 26," Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney told reporters after his team's win over Appalachian State on Saturday. "He was one of the best teammates we've had come through here. My heart hurts and my prayers are with his family."
He went on to play professionally in the USFL, recording 42 catches for 533 yards and five touchdowns for the Philadelphia Stars over the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
The investigation is ongoing.
