Coronation kicks off week-long Homecoming celebration at NC A&T

The event brings thousands of Aggies back to Greensboro and has become known as the "Greatest Homecoming On Earth."

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Sunday officially marked the beginning of a weeklong celebration as homecoming kicked off at North Carolina A&T State University. 

It's the event that brings thousands of Aggies to Greensboro.

The week is full of events including a parade, concerts and a homecoming football game.

Coronation kicked off homecoming on Sunday night, crowning this years king and queen.

Siblings Alaina and Alyssa Lopez and Michelle and Michael Cartwright are second generation Aggies.

All four are also cousins. 

Alaina and Michelle are Freshmen who are looking forward to their first homecoming as students.

 "I've been to multiple events, but as a student it's different, because I'll be with my friend group enjoying student activities and just fully immersing in the Aggie experience," said Michelle Cartwright.

"It will give me a balance of school, because I still do you have to go to class and the after class events," said Alaina Lopez.

Alyssa and Michael have the older sibling perspective, entering their last homecoming as students. 

"When you're in your senior year, of course is the last ride, so I just want to soak up every experience, every moment, and just cherish to college experience," said Michael Cartwright.

"I'm going to enjoy this last ride and make sure that it is one that I am safe and just having a really really great time," said Alyssa Lopez.

All four are excited to for the week that will bring generations of Aggies back to campus to celebrate their Aggie Pride!

The event that has become known as the "Greatest Homecoming On Earth" will run through next Sunday, Nov. 5.
