GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A person is in the hospital with serious injuries after being hit while walking along I-73 South in Guilford County Wednesday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said that around 7:26 a.m., they had been called to a crash involving a pedestrian on I-73 S near West Steeple Chase Road. Investigators said 55-year-old Clyde Strickland, Raeford, N.C., was walking south on I-73 when a vehicle driving south hit Strickland.
Strickland received serious life-threatening injuries and was taken to Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro, troopers said.
Investigators are searching for a white 2015-2021 Audi A3 passenger car believed to have been involved in the crash. The suspect vehicle will be missing the driver’s side mirror and will also have damage to the driver’s side headlamp and front bumper.
