High Point Stand-off Ends, Man Found Dead Inside House

Police say this started as a domestic assault call Friday morning. A woman who'd been cut was able to get out of the house.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A High Point stand-off has ended after the suspect was found dead inside the house following hours of negotiations.

Investigators said Lee Marshall Ingram, 63, shot himself. Police said the stand-off started around 10:15 a.m. after they received a domestic assault call for help at the house on Triangle Lake Road. According to police, the 911 caller said she had been cut by her husband. Investigators said she was able to escape the house and was stabbed multiple times. She was taken to a hospital. 

The 911 calls reveal she was stabbed in her neck, hands and stomach. Police say she has non-life-threatening injuries. 

Police said they initially encountered Ingram who was armed with a long-gun while standing in the doorway but he refused to comply and shut himself inside the house. Police evacuated the neighboring homes and a nearby school was placed on lockdown.

The High Point Police Department’s Crisis Negotiation and Tactical Teams obtained attempted multiple negotiations. They later obtained a search warrant and discovered Ingram’s body inside the house.
