High Point Rockers chairman, Coy O. Williard, Jr., has died

Williard served the High Point community for over 50 years.

HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point Rockers honored a valuable member of their community on Sunday, June 30.

Coy O. Williard, Jr., the Chairman of the Board of the High Point Downtown Stadium Foundation and High Point Baseball, has died after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Williard served the High Point community for over 50 years.

"Coy was loved by his family and friends, admired by those he worked with, and respected throughout the High Point community," wrote the Rockers in an online statement.

The Rockers credit Williard for making the Truist Point stadium a reality, which opened in May 2019.

The home plate gate was renamed the Coy O. Williard Gate in April 2023.

Williard's other community involvements included serving as board chairman for GTCC, the High Point Community Foundation, the High Point Chamber of Commerce, the High Point Economic Development Corp, and more.

He also won Citizen of the Year by the High Point Enterprise in 2011.
