NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Leggett & Platt is closing its High Point location soon.
The location was given a WARN notice, which was received by the state of North Carolina on June 10, indicating that the facility on Blandwood Drive would be closing, resulting in 158 jobs being eliminated.
According to the WARN notice, the closure is part of Leggett's efforts to consolidate operations, and the company expects the first employee release to take place on or around July 25, with the remaining staff let go by the end of September.
Of the 158 positions, 134 of them are in production and production support, while 9 are clerical and administrative, and 15 are in management spots.
"In January 2024, Leggett & Platt implemented a restructuring plan primarily focused on our Bedding Products business. This plan is intended to better align our business with an evolving competitive landscape and position our company our profitable growth. As part of these initiatives, we are consolidating our manufacturing footprint to better align capacity with regional demand and enhance our efficiency," the company wrote in statement.
The company plans to get rid of 15 facilities from its bedding operations production and distribution footprint as it looks to restructure its product strategy. At that time, the company did not specify which factory locations or how many employees would be impacted.
