HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point City Manager Greg Demko appointed Major Kenneth Shultz as the new Chief of Police, the High Point Police Department announced Thursday.
Shultz has been an officer with the High Point Police Department for over 26 years, serving in many capacities throughout his tenure.
As assistant chief, he rotated through as Commander of all three divisions within the police department and participated in High Point's focused deterrence efforts.
He also supervised much of the department's critical incident responses and emergency management functions. He was a member of the department's Tactical Team for 20 years, and served for eight years as the Team Commander.
Shultz also served as a detective in the Vice Narcotics Unit and canine handler while on patrol.
Shultz plans to continue working closely with the High Point Community Against Violence (HPCAV).
Chief Shultz was born in High Point and grew up in Davidson County.
