WINSTON-SALEM, NC (WFMY) - If you heard or saw a large presence of helicopters near Winston-Salem Wednesday night, you were probably wondering what in the world was going on.
Winston-Salem Communication Supervisor Chad Higgins said the US Army sent a release saying their rotary and fixed-wing aircraft would be doing demolition and ammunition training that required flying over the Winston-Salem area. Higgins said the police department has gotten lots of calls about the training exercise.
WFMY News 2 also got several calls and emails asking what was going on. There you have it.
Through a release, the Army said it appreciates the cooperation from businesses and people in the community and apologizes for any disturbances.
