HIGH POINT, N.C. — Fire crews are on the scene of a fire at a High Point facility that was on fire Tuesday, according to the High Point Fire Chief, Jayson Valade.

The call came in around 9:02 a.m.

Crews arrived at a facility on Mendenhall Oaks Parkway where they found a fire in the storage area. After the flames were put out, they discovered leaking barrels possibly containing several chemicals.

Valade said this switched to a hazmat situation. Crews mitigated the spill, and the scene is now stable.

The facility is now being monitored and facility plans to call in its own cleaning company to continue the cleanup.
