Goldsboro, NC -- A jury has found Eric Lane guilty of the murder of five-year-old Precious Whitfield. Lane was charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and a sex offense. The jury will return on Monday for sentencing. Whitfield was last seen in 2002, playing outside of her grandmother's home. Her body was later found in a creek seven miles away. Authorities believe Lane killed the child within hours of her kidnapping. An earlier trial for Lane ended in mistrial in November because a juror improperly commented about possible punishments.
