GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) construction on the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway pedestrian bridge between Cotswold Terrace and Lake Brandt Road is complete, according to the City of Greensboro:
The Greenway is now open for walkers, runners and cyclists. It was rerouted in September 2017 while NCDOT built the 170-foot pedestrian bridge that takes the greenway over the newest section of the Greensboro Urban Loop. The bridge will restore a direct connection between the Battleground Parks District and city watershed trails.

Amanda Lehmert with the City of Greensboro said the greenway has opened a couple of weeks earlier than expected.
Melinda Shavis walks five miles every day, and lives in the Cotswold Terrace area. She is excited pedestrian bridge is back open.
"I really really love it matter of fact I was taking picture over there so I said this is nice!"
Shavis says she's had to change her routine because of the Urban Loop detours, both on the sidewalk and driving on the roads.
"When I get off work at 5 p.m. it's maybe 25 minutes to get home, it's supposed to be only a 15 minute drive from my house to Cone so yeah 25 minutes so it’s a hassle so ill be glad when they’re finished," Shavis said.
