Water main break on E. Cone impacting about 100 homes

Greensboro city officials said water service is expected to be restored by Tuesday night.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A 16-inch water main break in the 1700 block of E. Cone Boulevard left about 100 people without water service Tuesday morning.

A section of the road is closed while crews work to fix the problem.

Greensboro city officials said crews will be onsite until water has been restored to the area, which is expected to take place Tuesday night.

The city said once service is restored, residents should run their cold water in a bathtub or outdoor faucet to remove any air or discoloration from the service line.

Due to the repair work, E. Cone between Orange Street to Highway 29 has two of three lanes closed to traffic. GTA's bus service in the area will also be affected. This section of Cone is expected to reopen by 10 p.m. Tuesday.
