GREENSBORO, N.C. — Funeral arrangements have just been announced for fallen Greensboro police Sergeant Philip Dale Nix.
Sgt. Dale Nix's funeral arrangements are set for Thursday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at Westover Church on Muirs Chapel Road in Greensboro, according to the official obituary website.
Sgt. Nix was shot and killed at the Sheetz gas station on Sandy Ridge Road. Greensboro police said he was trying to stop a crime in progress.
His death has left a void in the community as Sgt. Nix was more than an officer who served his community — he was a hero who inspired everyone he came in contact with. His legacy also left a lasting impression on the Triad.
During a vigil held in his honor Thursday night, many people said he was the nicest officer they had ever seen and they were absolutely heartbroken.
