GREENSBORO, N.C. — Officers from the Greensboro Police Department have returned home from rendering aid to Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina,
More than 30 offers and 17 firefighters were sent to the devastation in Asheville and surrounding areas. One detective called it a privilege to serve victims in that part of the state.
"It was important for us, because it's a part of our community. I grew up in North Carolina, and, you know, just a sense of duty, a sense of responsibility, to take care of our fellow residents," said Detective Jason Warren.
A few ATV's and a water truck were also sent over to members of effected communities for easier means of transportation.
