Greensboro's community music ensembles to host five free concerts later this fall

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Get ready to listen to the melodies and tunes of Greensboro’s community music ensembles later this fall!

Creative Greensboro is presenting five concerts in November and December. The city’s community music ensembles, such as the Choral Society of Greensboro and the Greensboro Concert Band, will be performing at the concerts.

All concerts are free, but donations will be accepted to help the music series continue.

Fall 2024 Concert Schedule

Choral Society of Greensboro

Presenting Five Mystical Songs (Williams), Pergolesi’s Magnificat, Haydn’s Little Organ Mass, and Brahms’ Geistliches Lied.

When: November 2, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Virginia Somerville Sutton Theatre at Well-Spring, 4100 Well Spring Dr.

Greensboro Big Band

Presenting traditional big band and swing favorites – dancers are encouraged to attend!

When: November 10, 3 p.m.

Where: Van Dyke Performance Space, Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St.

Philharmonia of Greensboro

Presenting Haydn’s London Symphony, Vaughan Williams’ Lark Ascending, and Lindpaintner’s Sinfonia Concertante No. 2, Op. 44.

When: November 23, 7:30 p.m.

Where: Dana Auditorium, Guilford College, 710 Levi Coffin Dr.

Greensboro Concert Band

Presenting Overture to Candide (Bernstein), Four Scottish Dances (Paynter), Danza de los Duendes (Galbraith), and more.

When: November 24, 3 p.m.

Where: Dana Auditorium, Guilford College, 710 Levi Coffin Dr.

Choral Society of Greensboro

Presenting Handel’s Messiah.

When: December 10, 7 p.m.

Where: Gail Brower Huggins Performance Center, Greensboro College, 815 W. Market St.
