ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, NC (WFMY) - A Greensboro man was hit and killed Tuesday morning after pulling his truck to the side of US Highway 29 near Reidsville.
Alton Wyrick pulled his truck over on the side of 29 north just south of the 158-mile marker shortly after 3:30 a.m. and started walking in the road according to the Highway Patrol. Wyrick, 78, was a foot-and-a-half into the road from the shoulder when he was hit by a Dodge Ram truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
It's not known why Wyrick was walking in the road. Wyrick was about 150 feet from his truck when he was hit.
The driver of the Ram was 19-year-old Randall Bowman, of Danville, who wasn't charged. There were no other injuries.
