Greensboro site to house unaccompanied minors

A new memo from the Office of Refugee Resettlement confirms it has secured a Greensboro site with up to 800 beds for boys and girls ages 13 to 17.

Officials released details about the possible future of the former Hebrew Academy space.

The sprawling facility on Hobbs Road in Greensboro is currently vacant after closing in 2019 amid financial struggles.

Last June, the United States Department of Health and Human Services announced the site would become an influx care facility, providing housing and schooling for unaccompanied migrant children who come into the u-s illegally.

A new memo from the Office of Refugee Resettlement confirms it has secured a Greensboro site with up to 800 beds for boys and girls ages 13 to 17.

To be clear, the memo does not specify the address of the facility or mention the former Hebrew academy, but it says opening the facility will depend on referrals and other factors and there's no current timetable.
