Greensboro accepting parking tickets in school supplies

The city suggests that donations to be made within 30 days of the infraction.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The City of Greensboro will accept new and unwrapped school supplies or a cash donation to the Guilford Education Alliance Teacher Supply Warehouse as payment for parking ticket fines issued from August 1 to October 31.

The city suggests that donations to be made within 30 days of the infraction. Handicapped parking violations are not included in this program.

All supplies should be taken to the Greensboro Parking Office located in the Melvin Municipal Office Building on 300 W. Washington Street.

A cash donation may be made directly to the Warehouse online. Citation holders have to show a receipt to verify the donation or value of the school supplies, which must be equal to or greater than the fine.

The Teacher Supply Warehouse allows Guilford County School teachers to shop for items at no cost up to four times a year.

The city's school supply collection has raised over $10,000 in donations for local teachers. In 2023, the program filled more than 4,000 shopping orders and distributed nearly $600,000 in free supplies.

Suggested donations include:

  • Glue Sticks and Tape
  • No. 2 and Colored Pencils and Sharpeners
  • Spiral/Composition Notebooks
  • Copy, Graph, and Construction Paper
  • Arts and Crafts Supplies
  • 2-Pocket Folders
  • Scissors – child and adult
  • Post-It Notes and Index Cards
  • Permanent Markers
