GREENSBORO, N.C. — According to a report on CBS Mornings, companies announced more than 270,000 layoffs for the first three months of the year. Tech jobs continue to be the most vulnerable. This means that people will be looking for new jobs, and those with jobs will be trying to keep their current ones. So, what does this mean for job seekers?
People skills are an important differentiator for any job seeker. Having strong people skills helps create a positive work environment and strong relationships and increases business success. Important people skills include collaboration, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
Here are a few suggestions to develop stronger people skills. Active listening (understanding their perspective and emotions), showing empathy (putting yourself in their position, which helps you relate better), talking clearly (saying what you mean), and establishing rapport (finding common interests).
