Use body language to increase your confidence

It's not uncommon to lose a little confidence as you age. Blanca Cobb shares body language moves to increase your perceived confidence.

With age, self-doubt can creep in. IT doesn't have to be that way. Here are a few body language moves that can increase your perceived confidence.

In a situation where you feel flustered, embarrassed, it's natural to get flooded with emotions. The problem is that you tend to react instead of respond. A natural tendency might be to justify and defend yourself. And in the process, you might speak fast and stumble. In these moments, pause to regain control of emotions and to sound in control. When you pause instead of saying "err" "hmm" then you increase your perceived confidence.

Let's say that you're in a work meeting and there's one person who keeps interrupting you. One thing you can do is get up and stand slightly behind them. It'll make them feel uncomfortable and more likely to stop talking.

Other times, you shrink or implode, which means make yourself appear smaller. In these moments, take up space to increase your perceived confidence. You can spread your arms further apart on the table. Lean forward. Put your hand on your hip.
