Randolph County child abuse walk
The Randolph County Department of Social Services (DSS), in partnership with Randolph Partnership for Children, Randolph County Emergency Services, Randolph County Public Health, Emmy's House Children's Advocacy Center, and Randolph County Guardian Ad Litem, will be hosting a Child Abuse Prevention "Walk" at Asheboro Recreation Center on April 14, 2023, from 9:00 am -11:30 am, to raise public awareness during National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The event will begin with an opening ceremony at 9:00 am, followed by a mile walk that will focus on advocating for prevention, building community capacity, and raising awareness to prevent child abuse and neglect, strengthen families, and foster healthy children and youth.

GuilfordWorks hosted the Fresh Start Employer Info Session on March 21 to provide local employers with insights and information about the benefits of hiring justice-served individuals. The session included information about support and resources, testimonials, and reentry models.
The Fresh Start Hiring and Resource Fair, ideal for individuals returning to the workforce after incarceration, features more than 20 employers and more than 15 resource providers. Starting pay is $20/hour for most positions.

Fresh food box half-price for SNAP recipients
Saturday, April 15 is the kickoff to the Fresh & Local Nutrition Incentive Program event. It is aimed to provide half-priced Community Supported Agriculture boxes to SNAP benefits participants.
The event starts at 10 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. at 112 North Benbow Road, in the parking lot adjacent to the Alvin V. Blount Jr. Student Health Center on NC A&T's campus.
The boxes are valued at $20 and $30 but will be offered for purchase at $15 and $20 through SNAP benefits.
Sedgefield Woman's Club Shred & Share Event
Sedgefield Woman's Club is hosting a free Shred & Share Event this Saturday, April 15th. It will be 10 am to noon at the Harris Teeter on Mackey Road in Greensboro. They are also accepting fresh food and canned goods food donations for David Wilson Food Pantry, clothing donations are being accepted for Bob's Closet, and books will be donated to Family Service of the Piedmont, various libraries, schools, and organizations in our community.
Pet Blessings
Unity in Greensboro is hosting a Pet Blessing this Saturday, April 15th from noon to 2 pm. It will be in the parking lot of the Church of the Covenant on South Mendenhall Street in Greensboro. There will be walk-up blessing stations available for friendly and leashed or contained pets to receive blessings ranging from traditional prayer to energy healing. Drive-up blessings will also be available for pets that are better suited to staying in the car.
The church will be collecting items to donate to Guilford County Animal Services and Juliet’s House Animal Rescue. Items that can be accepted are:
- Unopened and non-expired dog and cat treats
- Unopened and non-expired canned or dry dog and cat food
- New blankets or large towels
- New or gently used harnesses, preferably for large dogs
