NC A&T Gospel Choir blesses the Good Morning Show ahead of homecoming gospel concert

The homecoming gospel concert is on Thursday at 6 pm.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Celebrations for the Greatest Homecoming on Earth continue this week! The highly anticipated North Carolina A&T Homecoming Gospel Concert is back in Aggieland. The show is Thursday night at the Corbett Sports Center.

Members of the North Carolina A&T Fellowship Gospel Choir joined WFMY live in the studio to discuss what the public can expect at the event.

Makayla Caldwell and Antown Patterson are members of the university’s gospel choir. They said the audience will be blessed with amazing performances.

“Tonight, people can expect the move from God for sure,” Caldwell said. “We will be opening up with the North Carolina A&T Fellowship Gospel Choir. We'll be opening up for Koryn Hawthorne and Jekalyn Carr. It’s going to be an amazing time tonight for sure.”

The gospel choir has been on campus for more than 50 years.

“The impact has been monumental,” Patterson said. “The purpose of the gospel choir is to minister in fellowship with each other, spread the good news about who Jesus is and what he's done for all of us, all of us in our personal lives. So, just to be able to minister together as a unit has been more than impactful for the students on campus.”

WFMY News 2’s Lauren Coleman asked the two students how participating in the gospel choir has shaped their college experience.

“To be able to embrace my faith on campus among my peers has been so life-changing for me,” Patterson said. “To come into an atmosphere where people who look like me, who grew up different than I did though.  To be able to connect with other people from different walks of life just about who Jesus is and that being the center of what we do has been life-changing for my life.”

Caldwell agreed.

“It's been very life-changing,” Caldwell said. “I've met some of my closest friends in the gospel choir. It's just been an amazing experience to be able to grow in my faith walk and to be able to just sing the goodness of God all the time. It's amazing.”

The choir hopes they can minister to those in attendance.

“I think we want people to take home the fact that Jesus is still in the miracle-working business that he's still working for the lives of those who are seeking him and he's still standing at the door knocking,” Patterson said.  “If you're seeking him, you will be able to find him at tonight's concert.”

The Homecoming Gospel Concert is on Thursday night at the Corbett Sports Center. The show starts at 6 pm.
