Museum Month: Downtown Greensboro's Ambleside Gallery

GREENSBORO, NC -- The Good Morning Show has been celebrating "National Museum Week" all month long, and we round out our Triad museum tour at downtown Greensboro's Ambleside Gallery!

Jackson Mayshark founded the gallery in Manchester, England more than 30 years ago. It has since made its way to S. Elm St. in Greensboro, NC.

Though the gallery is relatively small, it has a big presence in the international art world. Now through July, the gallery is home to the the American Watercolor Society's famous traveling exhibition. It also is the only U.S. museum to feature the collection of China's most renowned watercolorist, Guan Weixing.

But perhaps the most talked-about works are from local artists. Lining the back wall are windows to the world -- vases with intricate, life-like ancient cities sculpted inside them.

Ambleside Gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (except Friday, when hours are 11 am. to 9 p.m. It participates in downtown Greensboro's First Friday Festivals, one of which is happening this Friday, June 2. There will be music and festivities at the gallery.

There is no admission fee, and the artwork is for sale.
