Aggie royalty: Meet Mr. and Miss NC A&T 2023

Seniors Torree Theodore and Marcus Scott, Jr. hold the coveted Homecoming titles this year, before embarking on big plans post-graduation.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — North Carolina A&T State University has crowned a new era of royalty, bestowing its prestigious "Mr. and Miss NCA&T" titles on two esteemed seniors as Homecoming 2023 gets underway.

The students, who apply in March, have to get through a pageant and showcase in April. The three contestants with the highest scores then go on a ballot, where the campus population votes to decide the winners. This year, they are:

Miss NCA&T: Torree Aurianna Theodore

Senior Torree Theodore, from Macon, GA, is an honors senior majoring in social work. As a 'go-getter,' Theodore has been active in several roles, including an Aggie success leader, "Miss Sophomore," a senator for the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences and  a resident assistant.

Proudly, she is a member of the Alpha Phi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) and has served as Miss Pink Tea Rose, a committee chair and an executive board member. As a passionate philanthropist, she founded Change Matters, a charitable organization supporting families and students in Black River, Jamaica.

After graduation, she intends on pursuing a Master's degree in social work, specializing in equity in educational resources. Her dream job is a chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for a major corporation, and she wants to establish inner-city learning centers prioritizing children's education and mental health.

Mr. NCA&T: Marcus Antonio Scott, Jr.

Senior Marcus Scott, Jr., from Knightdale, NC, is a senior majoring in psychology. He is a naturally-born leader, holding various leadership roles at NCA&T -- including an Aggie success leader, Vice-President of Education for the Aggie Toastmasters and an intern for the 16th Mr. NC A&T.

He is faith-focused, and founded the Bible study group "Joshua's Generation Outreach," aiming to promote personal relationships with God.

Post-graduation, he wants to launch a mentorship program called MPACT to empower teenagers and young adults by helping them utilize their community resources to achieve success and affect others positively. His long-term goal is to become a U.S. senator.
