How body language plays a role in mentorship

Body Language Expert, Blanca Cobb shows us how body language can impact mentorship.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — January is National Mentorship Month. This morning, we're talking about the role of body language in mentorship.

Effective body language enhances a mentor and mentee's clarity, impact, and receptivity. For example, positive body language that shows you're listening and interested lets the mentor know that the conversation is worth the time they're spending with you.

Positive body language, such as eye contact, nodding, and showing open gestures, helps build trust and rapport because it signals respect, and collaboration and allows for open communication.

Mentors play an important role in shaping mentee's professional behavior. By showing positive body language during easy times, like networking and difficult conversations, the mentee learns about professional behaviors across the board.
