High Point University Brings The Love Of Science To The Piedmont Triad

HPU faculty and students will take the Mobile Lab to schools throughout the Piedmont Triad to encourage education, specifically in the studies of science.

HIGH POINT, N.C. - High Point University wants to make science more accessible for the public.

The University funded and created a new Mobile Community Lab.

It's all about teaching the community about chemistry and biology through fun hands-on experiments.

"The HPU Mobile Lab is a resource that will enable undergraduate sciences faculty and staff to share the excitement of science and scientific discovery directly with our High Point community," says Srougi. "It will not only facilitate scientific literacy through hands-on experimentation but also increase engagement with our city. Using the HPU Mobile Lab, our undergraduates will be able to work alongside our outreach partners where they can acquire real-world experiences while strengthening their own scientific skills."

The Mobile Community Lab is a project spearheaded by Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Neil Coffield, Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Veronica Segarra, and Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Melissa Srougi.

HPU faculty and students will take the Mobile Lab to schools throughout the Piedmont Triad to encourage education, specifically in the studies of science.

The Mobile Lab is integrated into the HPU undergraduate education science curriculum, which allows students to create experimental modules on HPU's campus.
