Explaining The Pokemon Go Craze
It is a craze like no other. Apple says Pokemon Go is the most downloaded app in its first week of release in the history of the app store. You've likely seen people running around town absolutely glued to their phone screens.
Pokemon Go is a game played directly on your phone. Using your phone's GPS you chase and catch various characters around your city. A benefit of the game is its social nature where you play with friends, parents or kids.
Many people are getting hurt because of "inattentional blindness" where you don't see what's in front of you because you're not paying attention to your surroundings. It's no different then people walking into doors, people or falling into fountains while texting and walking.
Managing Your Pokemon Time
We see people playing Pokemon everywhere and playing it constantly. How can you get control of your game playing so it doesn’t interfere with other areas of your life?
A telling sign is when you're playing the game during every waking second you're playing the game. Also, when you put off responsibilities to get in more playing time. To curb your playing time, decide how many hours you'll be on your game as well as limit your time. Scheduling playing times with friends can be difficult given everyone's different schedules, which would allow you to limit your game time.
