Free video streaming service from the Greensboro library | See how Kanopy works

Save money on watching movies and tv shows by using this service. All you need is a free library card.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Over half of Americans have cut the cord to save money, but they still spend an average of $54 per month on streaming services. To help the City of Greensboro public library has started offering its own streaming service for free! It's called Kanopy and has some great movies like Oscar-winner "Everything, Everywhere All At Once" and classics like "Legally Blonde."

Once you enter your library card, you can get a total of 15 tickets a month to watch videos. Most movies are 2 to 4 tickets. And a whole season of a TV show can be as little as 4 tickets. But they also have a kids section where it's all free! You don't need tickets to watch any of it.

To make it easy to watch, Kanopy also has apps you can download on Roku and Fire TV. Not only is Kanopy free, but it is also free to get a Greensboro library card.

And don't forget you can also stream free local and national news with the WFMY News 2 Plus app also available on Roku and Fire TV.
