Greensboro, N.C. -- Four years and 40,000 patients later, the Evans-Blount Community Health Center is still going strong.
The low-cost clinic has been a big help for people in our community since 2010 when it opened. We saw the need intensify in August, 2013. That summer, the Healthserve Community Clinic closed its doors to more than 9,000 patients in Greensboro.
While other health centers and low-cost clinics have closed, the Evans-Blount Health Center continues to treat more than 10,000 adults each year.
The Community Health Center provides services to adults 18 and over for illness, immunization, minor injuries and physical exams. Blood pressure checks and diabetes management are also available.
Evans-Blount Community Health Center was named in honor of two dedicated and long-term physicians, Dr. George Evans and Dr. Alvin Blount. It was established to help address the health needs in the southeast Greensboro area.
To celebrate the health center's fourth anniversary, the Evans-Blount Community Health Center is planning a lineup of family events through June 27, 2014.
It's located at 2301 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Greensboro in the Benbow Professional Center. For more information, call 336-641-2100.
