Dating body language do's and don'ts

Blanca Cobb, body language expert, teaches us what body language is good for dates and what you should avoid.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Today, we're diving into the fascinating world of dating and exploring the unspoken language of body language. Let's decipher the meaning behind those subtle signals.

Eye contact is important on dates because it signals engagement and interest. Maintaining eye contact while someone speaks shows you're listening and present. However, remember, staring can be uncomfortable. Aim for a natural back-and-forth.

Open posture, like an uncrossed body and leaning in slightly, suggests confidence and receptiveness. Slouching can indicate disinterest or nervousness. Touch is a powerful signal of intimacy. If initiated by both parties, a gentle touch on the arm or shoulder can show interest and warmth. However, always be respectful of personal space and avoid anything too forward.

Subtly mirroring your date's body language, like posture or hand gestures, unconsciously builds rapport and connection. It shows you're paying attention and creates a sense of synchronicity.
