GREENSBORO, N.C. — Mark your calendars! The sixth annual Hope Fest 4 hunger is this Sunday at the Historic Carolina Theatre in Downtown Greensboro.
The event helps fight hunger in Guilford County by bringing people together to celebrate a variety of cultures through shared dances.
Team leader Debbie Sivret said one in four people in Guilford County is facing food insecurity.
“You know there's that expression compassion is universal,” Sivret said. “We all have compassion for others, and I feel like if you look around Guilford County you will see firsthand the people that are really needing help.”
The benefit dance showcase will feature nine different cultures in Guilford County including Scottish, Mexican, and West African. Hope Fest 4 Hunger has raised close to $130-thousand dollars over the past five years. A hundred percent of the proceeds go to Greensboro Urban Ministry and a Simple Gesture.
“We also have added an online auction platform and a 50/50 raffle,” Sivret said. “You don't even have to be there to be part of this event. We have some great auction items from area businesses.”
The show kicks off at 2 pm. Admission is free, but donations encouraged.
WFMY News 2’s Lauren Coleman will serve as this year's emcee.
