Part of garbage truck stuck in plane after crash at PTI

American Airlines got passengers on a new plane for their flight to Dallas.

GREENSBORO, N.C. β€” Part of a garbage truck got stuck in the wing of an airplane at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro Friday morning.

A passenger told WFMY News 2's Chad Silber that the plane was in the process of boarding when the truck hit it, causing the plane to shake. Passengers had to deboard the plane and the flight was delayed for several hours.

"We had just boarded when we felt a very strong jolt for several seconds and then another one," Joni Crofoot shared with WFMY News 2.

It turned out that Wake Forest Basketball head coach Steve Forbes was also on the plane. He tweeted about the incident.

The plane belonged to American Airlines and was headed to Dallas. The airline said 143 customers and six crew members were on board. No one was hurt. The truck was operated by a contractor.

The flight re-departed Friday afternoon with a new plane. The original plane has been taken out of service for maintenance.
