GREENSBORO, N.C. — The City of Greensboro said there was a discharge of approximately 1,200 gallons of untreated wastewater from a manhole at the intersection of Kenilworth Street at Theta Street Tuesday.
The discharge went on for about 4 hours due to an accumulation of debris in an 8-inch sewer main.
The untreated wastewater entered North Buffalo, which is a tributary of the Cape Fear River basin. The main was unstopped by using a combination sewer cleaning truck to prevent further discharge.
Nearby hydrants were open to flush the creek and wash the road down.
