GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Candles, balloons and stuffed animals fill the sidewalk on Baker Avenue in Greensboro, where a 16-year-old was shot and killed.
Friends gathered at the growing memorial on Wednesday evening to remember Sateria Fleming. Her friends called her Zoe.
"Father, God, we come to you as humbly as we know how. Asking you send all of our love, our positive energy to Zoe," said Jayden Joyce, a friend and classmate of Fleming.
Friends joined together to pray for Fleming and shared memories.
"She was so bright, so beautiful, so blunt," said Jazlyn Bell, another friend of Fleming. "So Ms. Sassy."
Investigators say Channay Morehead shot Fleming Monday night.
Police tracked down the suspect the following day, driving on Battleground Avenue. But when officers pulled her over, two men in the car ran.
Police say Courtney Baskins pulled out a gun as he tried to get away and an officer shot him. Baskins is in the hospital. He is a person of interest in the 16-year-old's death.
Investigators say Morehead did not try to run. She's in jail and is charged with murder.
However, friends find little comfort in the suspects' arrest.
"Even the fact that they caught her killer, I do appreciate it. But she's not coming back so what is it changing?" said Tommi Pierson. "Justice for her, yes. But there's no real justice when she's not here."
