FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. — Need a ride to work? Forsyth County residents can get one for free starting on Monday.
The Forsyth County Government is launching its new ForsythRides program, which will offer residents free rides to work.
But it's not just for work rides. People can also get rides to skills training, job fairs, interviews, and GED classes. The program will also help take children to childcare for working parents.
The program starts on Monday, March 11 and runs through June 30.
Here's where you can apply for a free ride. You can also call 336-278-2684. Rides are only offered within Forsyth County.
The free service is made possible by an annual grant from the North Carolina Department of Transportation Rural Operating Assistance Program. Once the program ends, Forsyth County Government said they may continue the program for a small charge.
Forsyth County contracted locally-owned transportation company Support Systems of Forsyth County for the service. They have a fleet of nine vehicles.
