You will see their marked cars out on the roads because they want to be seen.

"Basically it's a team of guys that are out on the highway in a marked car so that we can judge people's reaction to our presence. So we want the vehicles to stand out and that's the reason you see them parked sideways and basically what these guys do is they are trained to make judgements based on people's reaction to our presence," said Rocky Joiner the Major of Enforcement Services for Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff's Office says it is a very scientific process. They watch how behaviors change from when people approach, see their cars, and even after they pass by.

The deputies decide whether to follow them or not based on their reaction.

"It also makes the streets safer just because we can pick the criminal element out of a crowd of traffic just by watching what they do in response to our presence," said Major Joiner.

The Sheriff's Office says before they pull someone over they have to be pretty sure something is going on, because if they're wrong it hurts the entire team's credibility.

The I-Team is set to work closely with other agencies as well to help combat this problem, and it is intended as a pro-active way of fighting these crimes.

In a release from the Sheriff's Office Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough said “We are pleased to announce our I-Team as an additional, visible effort to monitor traffic and help save lives by combating drugs and contraband movement through Forsyth County,” said Kimbrough.
