Former Greensboro Hosiery Mill to be Transformed into Apartments

The old Mock Judson Hosiery Mill will be transformed into 170 apartments, including several townhomes.

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Work is underway to transform a former mill property into modern apartments.

Developers say the old Mock Judson Voehringer Co. Hosiery Mill will be turned into about 170 apartments, including several apartment homes. The mill sits on nearly 6.5 acres located at 2610 Oakland Avenue.

Developer Eddie Belk will be working on the Mock Judson project. Belk also worked on the development of Revolution Mill.

The project will also include a community room, fitness center, and pool.

Developers say the mill's history will remain in tact. Contractors will expose the old masonry and the original windows will be restored. A two-story atrium in the common area of the building will also be restored. The mill's smokestack will also be kept.

Work has already begun on the property, with contractors recently gutting this inside of the old mill.

The new apartments are expected to be finished by the end of 2019.
