Firefighters battle house fire in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Firefighters responded to a fire at a home in Burlington.

The Burlington Fire Department said they arrived at a house fire on the 500 block of Gilmer Street on Thursday around 6:36 p.m.

Burlington firefighters arrived in just under two minutes from dispatch to find smoke and flames coming from a window on the side of the house.

Fire personnel made sure all people inside of the home had evacuated and then extinguished the fire.

Other areas of the home were checked to make sure the fire had not spread.

The fire was under control within 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire was determined to be from an electrical issue.

No one was injured.

Fire officials said the damage estimates to the home are $50,000, and $10,000 to the contents.

The Burlington Police Department, Alamance County EMS, and Duke Energy also responded to the fire.
