LEXINGTON, N.C. — The Lexington Fire Department is investigating a fire that happened Saturday night at a vacant two-story residential building.
Officials said they responded to reports of the fire at 900 W. 5th Ave. around 4:30 a.m.. According to a release, firefighters found heavy flames coming from the building's first floor.
The flames were extinguished in 30 minutes.
Firefighters searched the building and found no one. The building's structure was extensively damaged by smoke, affecting both floors.
The Lexington Fire Marshal's Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
