ASHEBORO, NC - A fire at a plant in Asheboro kept firefighters busy for hours Friday afternoon..
The fire is at the Covanta Environmental Solutions plant on Carl Drive. It was reported around 12:30, Randolph County 911 confirmed.
A 911 telecommunicator said the Asheboro fire department and several others are on the scene.
Randolph EMS told WFMY News 2 there is so much smoke people across the county can see and smell it, but the fire has been contained.
They also sent out a tweet warning people to avoid the area:
Citizens in the immediate area of the industrial fire in North Asheboro are encouraged to stay indoors or voluntarily evacuate due to smoke.

No injuries were reported.
