Inmate Who Escaped Asheville Prison Back In Custody: NCDPS

David Hinkle was reported missing from Craggy Correctional Center Wednesday night.

David Hinkle, an escaped inmate at Craggy Correctional Center in Asheville, was captured Thursday around 4:30 a.m. according to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Hinkle was reported missing from the facility on Wednesday around 10 p.m. He was found about a mile from the correctional center. 

Hinkle is 35 years old and a minimum custody inmate according to the NCDPS. He was found guilty of Felony Speeding To Elude Arrest and Misdemeanor Speeding, Reckless Driving, Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road, Driving with a Revoked License and possessing drugs among other crimes.

The NC Department of Corrections record shows Hinkle as a felon with an alias of Andrew David McCullough. His projected release date is May 29, 2019.
