Fallen law enforcement officers honored in annual memorial service in Forsyth County

This year, fallen Forsyth County Deputy Auston Reudelhuber was remembered for his service. He died in September.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Forsyth County Sheriff's Office held its annual memorial service for local fallen officers on Monday. 

The service honored law enforcement officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. 

During the service, the Gold Shield Foundation honored the family of fallen Forsyth County Deputy Auston Reudelhuber with a presentation. Deputy Reudelhuber died in a traffic crash in September. 

Forsyth County Sheriff's Office has lost nine deputies in the line of duty, dating back to 1923. 

Winston-Salem Police Department has lost 18 officers in the line of duty. The most recent was Officer Russell Mark Willingham Jr., who died in a crash in 2011.
