Face 2 Face: A new WFMY News 2 series focuses on important topics with notable people

WFMY News 2's Chad Silber is kicking off the new series with an interview with Greensboro Police Chief John Thompson.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — When you see us cover news stories, you often hear from people impacted or related to the story. Most of the time, we include a short soundbite or two from that person.

WFMY News 2's Chad Silber wanted to come up with a better way to allow people to share their stories. That's why he created a new series called Face 2 Face with Chad Silber.

The long-form interview segments are meant to explore important topics with notable people in the community; people who run our governments, keep us safe, or play an important role in the present and future of the Triad.

For the first segment of this new series, Chad sat down with Greensboro Police Chief John Thompson. They covered many topics including last year's homicide record, community policing, the emphasis on social media, and the recent tragedy that rocked the department: the shooting death of Sgt. Dale Nix.

“It was really tough because I saw on the faces of a lot of officers who were struggling," Thompson said. "Their colleague, their friend was murdered and now they’re asked to do their job, to do it well, be professional, and to deal with the shock and grief that they were facing at that time. So, it was challenging.”
