ALAMANCE COUNTY, NC -- The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) says an emu that was on the run died Tuesday afternoon.
The emu ran into a thicket and collapsed and died in western Alamance County, according to ACSO public information officer Randy Jones. Jones says they still don't know where it came from or who owns the emu, but said it has been seen for two weeks.
The emu was spotted running around a neighborhood in the Gibsonville/Elon area. Ashley Woods posted this video to the WFMY News 2 Facebook page with the caption “It’s not every day you see an emu running around in your neighborhood!”
Elon and Gibsonville Police along with the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office worked to try and catch the emu.
