EDEN, N.C. — Heavy rain washed up something unexpected in an Eden couple's yard on Sunday.
The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office said the couple found an old grenade among rocks in a ditch on their property on Smith Acres Road.
Deputies said the grenade appeared to be old, rusted, and still had the pin in it. The area was quarantined just to be safe. Responding deputies got help from the Greensboro Police Department's Bomb Squad to safely remove the grenade.
No one was injured.
