ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Eastlawn Elementary principal, Dan McInnis, has been suspended without pay and dismissal has been recommended to the Board of Education, according to the district.
Retired principal Donna King has been named interim principal.
The district said King brings extensive experience to the school, having served as an administrator in the district for over 25 years.
McInnis is charged for allegedly being involved in misconduct with a 9-year-old on school property, police say.
Detectives opened an investigation on Dec. 8 after receiving information indicating a school principal, Daniel McInnis, 43, from Eastlawn Elementary, was allegedly involved in misconduct with a student on school property.
As a result of the weeks-long investigation, McInnis has been charged with one count of statutory sex offense.
McInnis was taken to the Alamance County Detention Center on Friday and was given a $500,000 bond.
